Do I have to know how to draw or paint? I can't even draw a stick figure!
Good news...you won't be drawing a stick figure! You will be amongst a group of people who will be doing the same thing as you….and will initially have the same “fears”! Just relax and trust us! We spend alot of time planning the teaching process by breaking down paintings piece by piece. You will amaze yourself! Each person has their own individual style.
Is this class only for beginners?
Some people, who have experience in painting, come to this class just because it provides easy access to art supplies and an area to escape and unwind. If you are an experienced painter, feel free to cut loose and take your painting where ever your creativity demands. Beginners will be inspired by your ideas!
What types of classes do you offer and how much do they cost?
Currently, we offer a few different types of classes. These include our adult class for $35 per person and a partner paint (date night) class consisting of two adults for $65 a pair. We also offer kids classes for $25 per child. Future classes of higher skill levels are always being developed as you grow artistically and are seeking new challenges.
Is there a minimum number of people needed to have a class?
Yes, we need a minimum of ten people to hold the class. If you have less than ten, you can still have a private party by paying the flat rate of $350.
When are classes held?
We generally have evening classes from 6:30-9:30 pm on weekdays and 7:00-10:00 pm on Friday and Saturday. Our doors open one half hour prior to the start of the class. Evening classes are geared toward adults. Check our calendar for all upcoming classes and register online.
Are there age requirements for your evening classes, you say they are geared toward adults?
Just as classroom activities and teaching styles are tailored to be age-appropriate, our paintings are designed to be fun projects for individuals ages 18 and up. Classes often have a “girls’ night out” atmosphere and of course, you must be at least 21 years of age to bring and consume alcoholic beverages.
We haven't forgotten about the kids and teens in our community. We will offer classes specifically with these age groups in mind. These classes are perfect for younger painters who want to come and paint with or without the rest of their family! We also offer "Family Fun Days/Nights" for ANY age to attend. Naturally, this is an alcohol free event but soda and juice are welcomed.
Can I bring food or wine?
On the evening of adult classes, you can bring any beverage or food item you like. We do not provide alcohol nor do we provide food or drinks, but our fridge is your fridge. Bring whatever you’d like and make yourself at home! We provide cups, plates and corkscrews.
What should I wear?
We strongly suggest that you wear comfortable, paint friendly clothes! We provide smocks (which are similar in style to aprons), but you WILL get paint on your hands. Remember this is a paint studio and you are an artist for the night! Our goal is for you to relax, be creative and not worry about getting paint on your favorite pair of jeans!
What time do I need to arrive for class?
You can arrive 15-30 minutes prior to class and that will give you plenty of time to settle in, have a beverage, and chat!
What size canvas do you use?
In a typical class we use 16”x 20” stretched canvasses for our adult classes and either 11"x 14" or 12"x 16" for our children's classes. We also offer many classes using unique canvas sizes . We paint our edges, so you don't have to buy a frame unless you just want too.
Will my painting be dry by the end of the night?
We always paint with drying time in mind, but you can use one of our hair dryers to take care of any remaining damp areas at the end of class.
How do I sign up for a class?
Click on the “class calendar” button and you will be directed to a page where all of our paintings for the next 4 weeks are listed. Click on the "register" button below the painting you would like to paint. You will be taken to an online shopping cart where you will complete your reservation.
Why do I have to pay when I reserve my seat?
The process of registering for a class at Uncork the Artist adds your name to the class roster - reserving you a seat. Classes are limited to 30 people. You have up to the day before your class to change or cancel your reservation with no penalty. No refunds will be issued for cancellations less than 24 hours prior to class.
Why do I have to create an account?
Be sure to create an Uncork the Artist account so that we have a record of the classes you have taken as well as your contact information. Your account allows us to keep track of your reservations so we know when you're coming. You are able to control your reservations, move it or cancel it on your own. It also helps us keep you informed with reminders about your reservation, special promotions, and new calendar postings.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Our online system allows us to accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover and PayPal.
Is it safe to register on-line?
Online payment via credit card is secure, fast, and easy and will guarantee that your registration is processed immediately. We are using a certificate: 128-bit SSL encryption. Your information is safely housed on secure servers maintained by The Paypal Pro merchant services division and Authorize.Net.
Can I register by phone?
It is preferable that reservations are made online but if you are having difficulty, we can assist you through the process.
Do you ever share my information with third parties?
NEVER!!!!! We only use your email address to send you reminders, promotions, and upcoming events or news about Uncork the Artist.
I have reserved a seat but am unable to attend. What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel the day of the class or simply fail to show, you will be charged for the class because we will be unable to fill your spot at the last minute. As long as you cancel prior to twenty-four hours before the scheduled class time, you will be provided a full refund. No refunds on cancellations of a private party reservation - you will be issued a credit for future class.
How often do you post a new monthly calendar?
New paintings and event schedules are posted 4 weeks ahead on a rolling basis. For this reason, we ask that all private parties be booked at least one month before they are to occur.
Do you offer gift certificates?
YES! Gift Certificates to Uncork the Artist are unique and thoughtful gifts for any occasion. You may purchase them online and print them out with a unique code that the recipient types in when making a reservation. You can buy them for a single $35 class or any other dollar amount. Purchased gift certificates do NOT expire! Donated gift certificates expire 6 months from the date issued.
How do private parties work?
Private parties are generally the same price as the normal classes $35 for adults and $25 for children. A minimum of 10 party artists (or $350 minimum) are required to book a private party. A deposit of $100 is required to book a private party and can be paid for on our "class calendar" tab above.
Can you host Charitable Events?
We strongly believe in giving back to our community. Uncork the Artist naturally provides a sense of unity and camaraderie, promoting art within the community. Creating works of art while raising money for a great cause is a perfect combination! We will hold charitable event fundraisers for your favorite non-profit. Everyone signs up through our calendar as usual, but on these nights, we give up to 50% of our proceeds back to the selected charity. This is often over $1,000 in one night! Help us give back to the community and send us a request for your favorite non-profit.
What are the age requirements for kid classes?
The recommended age range is 5 to 12 years old, however all ages are welcome. Older kids are welcome too and can add more detail to their paintings.
What time do kids’ classes start?
Times vary, please check each class prior to registration. We open the doors 30 minutes prior to class time.
Tell me about Kid’s Parties?
We can host your child’s birthday party or any type of “kid party” idea. Contact us with the details of your event and a quote will be provided. Typically we require a minimum of 10 kids to achieve “private party" status.
Do you offer Summer Camps?
We are excited to offer one to four day Kid's Camps during the summer months; tentatively Monday through Thursday. Daily sessions last between 2 and 4 hours depending on the camp. Each session will encourage and challenge your young artist as they create amazing works of art. Most of all, we want your children to have fun!
Kid's Camp sessions are posted on our calendar. Sign up just like you do for an adult class (under the “choose a class” tab). All art supplies and materials are included in the registration fee. Paintings are designed specifically for various age groups. Paintings will be brand NEW in each camp for our repeat & frequent attendees.
What are Frequent Painter Punch-Cards?
Come take five classes with us and receive your sixth class FREE! We love our frequent painters and want to reward your enthusiasm and loyalty! Receiving your free class is easy. When you attend your fifth class, simply turn in your punch-card to your teacher and we will email you a special code for a free class.
