A little bit about us.

Art Lab 419, formally known as Uncork the Artist, began in 2011 as the first paint and sip art studio in the Toledo, Ohio area. We are truly local to Northwest Ohio and not a chain or a franchise. This allows us complete control, freedom and creative flexibility to continually grow and innovate.

Our mission is to connect with the community by providing an outlet to ignite, inspire and foster creativity.

Our Artists are reputable for being the most skillful, patient and personable; ensuring you are at peace with your masterpiece.

We are a one-stop art shop. We offer a diversity of art classes and projects to quench your creative thirst. Our talented, local artists will create the perfect girls night out, date nights, birthday parties, bachelorette parties, corporate team building, and fundraising. We also specialize art classes and camps for kids!

Uncork the Artist designs are simple and beautiful — Our designs are simple enough to feel accomplished but complex enough to be interesting.

We have a multitude of paintings and projects designed for the novice and adaptable for those with prior experience.

Our Owner

Hi, I’m Cathie Nelson and I’m the owner of Art Lab 419. My team and I would like to welcome you into this creative space we are so passionate about. This business is a personal endeavor that has allowed me to incorporate everything within my broad skill set under one roof but community wide. I’m a high school teacher by trade with a background in social work mixed with a natural entrepreneurial and artistic spirit. Being still and summers off are not not ideal for the creatives; “doers and the makers”. I was born and raised in the West side of Toledo and I can tell you that the 419 culture is real and runs deep. I’m proud to be part of something big and invite you to join our own art community at Art Lab 419!
